My kids earned their first Junior Ranger badge here, while I was scouting the location for a Staff Ride. The staff was very helpful and they where dotted throughout the indoor and outdoor exhibits. While the Fort might be small, the importance of what happened here helped allowed the American victory at Saragota. Allow for at least 2 hours here, more if you want to get a truly full experience. Best to visit it between the spring and fall.
We arrived after the visitor center and monument were closed, but took advantage of the cell phone walking tour. You dial in on your phone and enter the number of your stop on the (flat) trail, which gives you a little blurb about what you're looking at, etc. My kids really enjoyed it because we have been learning about these battles recently. Easy walk, and I enjoyed the convenience and ease is the cell phone tour. It was free.
Very friendly and supportive working environment. I had a temp job here and miss it. I had to leave for a job in my field. I also have volunteered here. They are wonderful people!
I love the fort. I used to volunteer there when I was a kid, and it was so much fun. It's a great place for field trips or family day.
A true peice of history now revived with pokemon fans spending much time catching and enjoying exercise walking around the fort.
